Maltese for Foreigners
Learn Maltese online, a little every day
Moved to Malta, married into a Maltese family, or just curious? MELA's Maltese for Foreigners track teaches the language in friendly five-minute lessons.
Start with the basics
- Greetings you'll hear every day: Bonġu, Bonswa, Grazzi, Jekk jogħġbok
- Numbers, days, food and shopping phrases
- Pronunciation tips for sounds that don't exist in English
The Maltese alphabet, made simple
Maltese is written in the Latin alphabet with a few extra letters: ċ, ġ, għ, ħ, ie and ż. You don't need a Maltese keyboard. MELA accepts answers typed on a normal UK keyboard, shows you the correct spelling, and has buttons for the special letters.
