Maltese for kids, the fun way
MELA turns learning Maltese into a sea adventure. Kids sail Kaptan Luzzu from stop to stop around Malta and Gozo — every stop is a short Malti lesson.

Made for young learners
MELA was dreamed up by a 9-year-old who wanted Maltese practice to feel like a game. Lessons take about five minutes, use pictures and simple questions, and celebrate every win with Kaptan Luzzu.
What kids practise
- Everyday Maltese words: family, colours, food, numbers and the weather
- Reading and spelling with the Maltese letters ċ, ġ, għ, ħ and ż
- Short sentences and fill-in-the-blank practice
- School Malti topics, step by step
Why kids keep coming back
- A voyage around Malta and Gozo — Valletta Harbour, the south, the north, Comino and Gozo
- Daily streaks and gems for every lesson
- Weekly leagues named after Maltese favourites, from Ħobż to Ġgantija
For parents
MELA works in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Spelling is forgiving: if your child doesn't have a Maltese keyboard, answers typed with a normal keyboard still count. We show the proper Maltese letters so they learn them along the way.
